Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska’s Relics in Brzeziny
On Sunday, September 16, 2018, we took part in the ceremony of introducing the relics of Bl. Mary Angela Truszkowska into the Parish Church of All Saints in Brzeziny near Kielce. Relics of Bl. Mary Angela Truszkowska was solemnly brought in during the procession at the beginning of the Eucharistic Liturgy at 10 a.m. The Provincial Superior of Cracow presented the relics to the Pastor of the parish. Throughout the whole day, the Sisters presented the faithful not only with the biography of our Foundress, but also with the most important features of her spirituality. They said:
I think that the most beautiful gleams of her spirituality are three shades, three colors that add particular beauty to the mosaic of God’s glory: It is the love for Jesus in the Eucharist, the honor given to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and all in the spirit of atonement.
The Congregational motto which we received from Mother Angela says it clearly: “All through the Immaculate Heart of Mary in honor of the Most Blessed Sacrament.” Shortly before her death, she gave to the Sisters her spiritual testament:
“That always the honor of the Most Blessed Sacrament in the spirit of atonement was treasured in our Congregation and that we would never depart from our Rule and from our life, as we began from the beginning.?
In 1864, the Congregation was solemnly entrusted into the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Mother Angela herself composed the Act of consecration to Her Heart, which the Sisters recite every first Saturday of the month, and in a solemn manner with the symbolic offering of wax hearts, on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
?O BELOVED HEART of my Immaculate Mother, I desire to make an offering of myself to you, for belonging to you, I belong to Jesus also.?
In one of her meditations, Mother Angela wrote such a question:
I have asked the Lord that he himself should tell me what I should consider as the greatest grace and from what I will have to give the greatest account.
?I have asked the Lord that he himself should tell me what I should consider as the greatest grace and from what I will have to give the greatest account. It occurred to me that the Blessed Sacrament is the greatest grace because Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the Giver of all graces. He is the source from whom all graces flow.?
Her love for Jesus in the Eucharist was expressed also in her great desire to expose the Blessed Sacrament in the chapels of the Congregation, and when she ultimately obtained this privilege from the Holy Father, Leon XIII, she wrote:
“I would want the whole world and all creatures to thank him for us and to atone for us.”
During the beatification process, Fr. Bishop Stanisław Smoleński, one of the witnesses, said:
“Mother Angela wanted so much to atone God for all human sins that she wanted the idea of atonement to be a characteristic of the Congregation she founded. She understood the atonement very broadly and deeply. It was not only about individual penitential practices, but about the whole of severe and penitential life, within the framework of religious duties fulfilled faithfully.”
One would like to add … atone for all the insults caused to God and His Holy Mother by … faithful fulfillment of one?s duties, whether at school, at university, at work, or in family, or among loved ones, or in bearing the burden of illness, hardships of work, in short: in everyday life …. everywhere and always … Always in fidelity to God and the Gospel, out of love, because only Love has eternal value.
May Blessed Mary Angela intercede for all those who, in the Brzeziny Parish church, turn to God through her intercession.
