We all know that this year we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the election of Karol Wojtyla to the Holy See. Last week, and especially the day of October 16, 2018, was filled with celebrations reminiscent of an event from forty years ago, and perhaps most of all, expressing our gratitude to God for the gift of this Great Polish Man.

On Tuesday evening, October 16, 2018, at 8:00 p.m., the Papal Window at 3 Franciszkanska Street in Krakow was ceremonially unveiled. In the restored Papal Window there is a mosaic depicting the Pope in white robes. At the top and bottom, there are flowers that refer to those that Our Lady in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska has on her dress.

This beautiful reference to the Mother, whom John Paul II loved so much, rejoices all those who remember His visits to this Shrine.

The location of these flowers on the mosaic decorating the Papal Window touches the hearts of the Felician Sisters in a special way. Why?

Not too many people know that the Felician Sisters from Krakow made the dress of Our Lady of Kalwaria, which she received on the day of her solemn coronation in 1887. Blessed Foundress of the Congregation of the Felician Sisters, Mary Angela Truszkowska, also participated in the preparation of the dress.

Underneath the dress was sewn a document with a rhymed prayer and the signature of Mary Angela Truszkowska and then general superior, along with a long list of sisters? names who were involved in the preparation of the coronation dress of Our Lady of Kalwaria.

Let the sight of these flowers remind everyone, especially every Felician Sister, that from the dawn of their history, they are to do All through the Heart of Mary in honor of the Most Blessed Sacrament!
